it doesn't seem like it.
but i've got a splitting headache and my face feels swollen.
maybe i will see the vog tomorrow.
or maybe it's invisible sulfur dioxide.
or maybe it's campy from micro lab. just kidding. (please don't let it be that.)
actually, now that i'm thinking about it, i ate saimin which probably had a lot of msg in the soup.
i did't drink the soup but maybe that's it... even my fingers are slightly swollen...

nothing else to say today.
except that i figured out that taking bus 23 then 6 is faster than taking bus 3 then 6. saves me about 15 minutes
i have yet to try bus 23 then 14 then 6. from my calculations, it should save me 20 minutes. i'll have to try it out.
on the i was listening to my ipod on random. "she's the blade" from Sugarcult came on. i remember when i first heard the song- it was on mtv or vh1 in the early morning. it was black friday and i was waking up to go shopping- i must've been in 10th grade or something with AC- and i was psyching myself up with music videos. and she's the blade came on and then they played "i'm not okay" by my chemical romance (my favorite song at the time). so now i always listen to those songs back to back because that's how i heard them! i can't think of one without the other. i even remember what i was wearing: my green shirt and jeans jacket. and i had a cup of coffee in my room and i must've still had my tv plugged in since i was watching in my room! funny, the things you remember.

other songs i always listen to back to back:

1. "red socks pugie" - the foals
2. "come on feet" - pete and the pirates
i heard these two songs consecutively and now i always listen to them in this order.

1. "simple plan" - hooray for earth
2. "race for the prize" - flaming lips
3. "she's in the city" - hey lover
i used to listen to my itunes ordered by play count and this was always the order. usually i listen on random now but i always choose the other two songs next if i hear one of them.

1. "slow hands" - interpol
2. "ministry of defense" - the fatales
3. "sweet troubled soul" - stellastarr*
4. "let's talk about spaceships" - say hi to your mom
i used to have an mp3 play that held 20 songs or so. these were part of the 20. actually, i might even know the whole list. damn thing always played "random" in the same order so i always knew what song was next. i had some good times with that cheap thing, i wonder what happened to it.

there are some others, but i can't think of them right now.

but i have another micr story!
on tuesday we were studying our ASSESS off for a quiz on complement pathway and when class starts, john tells us that we looked like we were studying so hard he canceled our quiz. :O
damn! i was studying hard! i was ready to get 10s !
alas. his tactic made us study so i suppose it wasn't in vain.

we also got to look at real life macrophages that had IgG in their Fc receptors. And the IgG was from mouse monoclonals anti-SRBC. so we dumped some sheep red blood cells in and the macrophages were "decorated like christmas trees". our mouse EJ1-C8 didn't work (it was an IgM so it shouldn't have worked) but i got to look at the positive control which was working. :)
so, in light of this joyous occasion, i present you my favorite christmas songs, by the raveonettes, nonetheless.
don't worry, they aren't annoying- they are my favorite songs regardless of the season.

i changed my settings so that even non-registered readers can leave comments.
let the retaliation begin. heh.

listening to bytemarks cafe now.
just heard "you can have all the [high school] robotics teams you want but if you don't give them a place to work you're just creating an export industry.  do you want tourism to be our only industry?"

i was just thinking about this.
good thing there are still listings such as:

i look forward to joining the workforce.

cheesey boyfriends!
it's almost embarassing!
but i suppose i wouldn't want it any other way. :)

I've just removed a whole bunch of people from my social networks that cause me emotional distress.
is that vindictive even if they don't kow they cause me emotional distress?
oh well. too late now.

if you think science is cool, sign up for micr 230 and 240 at kcc!
they are molecular bio and tissue culture, respectively.
it will be tons of fun, i promise!
and matt and john are teaching!
there's only three people registered for those classes (myself included) i really don't want them to get cancelled!
how many people does it take to stop a class from being cancelled, anyway?
i the pre-reqs are: MICR 130, MICR 135 or BIOL 171; MICR 140, MLT 107 or BIOL 171L; CHEM 151 or higher; CHEM 151L or higher.  so, not that many- only basic micro stuff.

speaking of micro,
last thursday in immunology i was asking john about protein digestion; cells don't recognize pathogens, they recognize digested protein segments of pathogens.  so i was wondering why we don't get reactions to normally harmless proteins with similar structures.  turns out we can.  example: auto-immune diseases.  then john says, "in fact, in the 70s i got this free vaccine for swine flu!  but later some people developed guillaume-barre syndrome from the vaccine.  they were attacking their own nerve cells and becoming paralyzed."
or something to that effect.
then all of a sudden, BAM!  swine flu pandemic!
so today when i saw him again, i asked if he had seen the recent news on the swine flu prior to class on, oh maybe, the CDC WMMR.  and he replies "actually, that one came right out of left field!  it was pure, mind-blowing coincidence!"  he said he's in a bunch of immunology discussion groups and even they didn't see it coming!
as i see it, we were magically channeling the future... and ended up jinxing the world!
it's so bizzare.
i mean, a week before the whole fiasco we were litterally saying, "a long time ago, there was a swine flu panic and they made a bunch of vaccines but nothing happened."
then i saw @nextadvance on twitter post something about swine flu and i thought "hey cool, what a coincidence".  then honolulu advertiser started bombarding twitter with swine flu stuff and i was litterally staring with my mouth open.
amazing and spooky.
it's funny these things.
all in the timing.

i suppose i'd want an espresso maker to go with it...

i better stick to coffee.
you get so little in espresso!  i'd be wired all day if i ingested the same volume of espresso that i do regular coffee.
