i used to spend a lot of time at manoa valley pool and district park.

- Where and how did you learn to swim?
i was introduced to swimming at central or nuuanu YMCA.
BUT i had my most formidable training at manoa pool. maybe... 6 years of swim and water polo and jr lifeguard? seems like another life time ago...
i really like the gigantic clock on the wall there, i've always wanted one like it. (random)me and @LINDSYAEKO at manoa pool
- How far away is the nearest swimmable body of fresh water, and how’s the swimming there?
MICROBIOLOGIST DOES NOT APPROVE OF SWIMMING IN FRESH WATER. you know hawaii has the highest amount of leptospirosis cases in the nation? 50% of leptospirosis is from hawaii. JUST. DON'T.
i prefer the ocean.
leptospirosis facts: http://www.cdc.gov/leptospirosis/health_care_workers/
- How long has it been since you’ve been for a swim?
maybe three months?! too long!
- What’s the nearest community swimming pool like?
hello booth pool! you are tiny but close to my house. also there is no diving. :( i like diving. hard to find pools that are deep enough and allows it.
- What experience do you have with jumping off stuff and into water?
i can dive from the pool deck. and i can do flips from the deck.
i've never been on a diving board. (where can i find one i am dying to try!!)
and once i had to jump off the lifeguard tower into the pool at manoa for practice. i think that's the highest i've jumped from.
only the second week of school and i'm already looooosing my marbles.
like, three hours of sleep per day and one of those hours is on the bus.
but... you live the life you want, right? just have to get through 3 months. no problem. just three. tiny months. makes you appreciate the weekends more.
at least classes are interesting. virology! and genetics! and ancient myths! (yes, still finishing up those general education requirements...) next week i'm holding a crash course in microbiology for the new crop of researchers at kcc. yey bacteria!
on the bus i listen to this a lot recently:
the album color matches the friday5 theme, no?
