I AM A GHOST IN SIZE SMALL CLOTHES AND COULD USE SOME COLOR

my facebook and twitter feed is blowing up with updates from SORORITY NOISE!

they were even featured on stereogum several times recently:

http://www.stereogum.com/1803760/sorority-noise-nolsey-stereogum-premiere/mp3s/

http://www.stereogum.com/1801313/sorority-noise-art-school-wannabe/mp3s/

their new album, joy, departed sounds promising, can't wait to hear the rest of it. comes out 6/16!

in honor of the news, here is forgettable:

FORGETTABLE

(i donned a girly happy dot dress to match the pink/white. :D
this dress is from target, by the way.  found it on clearance for $12.  sweeeeeet. also, pink lipstick by buxom.  sephora freebies, ftw!  the color is called "mistress" and not really the shade for me.  but the sample turned me on to the formula and i later bought the full size in "hooligan", a mauve color.  but, i digress... )

despite the title, this album is not forgettable!  in fact, i bought it because i was browsing day by day records and happened to like the album cover so i gave it listen and they had me at the first song.

two days later i'm still thinking about mediocre at best:

"nobody likes me, that's what i tell myself..."

 this whole album FIVE FUCKING STARS!!  everything is so upbeat and catchy but has an insane theme;

"i drove home at a hundred miles an hour just to see what it feels like to die!"

here's the whole album, knock yourself out!

GOOD

last month i found out the goodtime boys called it quits this january! :'(

i decided i should snatch up their EPs before it's gone forever!  i particularly wanted their split with self defense family and their 7" Every Landscape.  but then i heard their cover of tank park salute and decided i wanted Things I Still Don't Understand too.

have you ever ordered from b9 before?
this is my first time ordering from them and was so surprised by their awesomeness!!

first off, i was like, why is my packing slip smashed into a little triangle in the corner of the box...?
BECAUSE INSIDE THERE WAS CANDY!  CANDY!!

thanks b9!

no one sends me candy!  /(* u * )/ i was so happy and surprised to find it!

so here are the two pieces i set out to buy:

Goodtime Boys | Every Landscape + Split with Self Defense Family

Harrow & Callous are my two favorite songs and the kate bush cover was unexpected and awesome! even the cover is nice and the vinyl color matches perfectly!

and here is Things I Still Don't Understand.  I've matched it up with it's companion, Rain.

Goodtime Boys | Things I Still Don't Understand + Rain

and since i was snapping pictures, i pulled out What's Left to Let Go

Goodtime Boys | What's Left to Let Go

and all together now!

Goodtime Boys

i'm still missing Are we now, or have we ever been? but one day i'll track it down.  also, i only have the digital version of their split with Solutions... pretty rare to find a physical copy from what i've seen.  the song Deaner's Last Weekend was the first goodtime boys song i heard and still my favorite!

tell me this is not the best thing you've heard today!

grab more of their music here:

i love you goodtime boys!  i'm sorry i didn't get to see you live, but am looking forward to your next projects, guys!

so... since i was ordering from b9, i decided what the heck, i'll just throw these in with my order because i have been wanting these on vinyl for a long time!  i survived spring semester and full time work and i deserve it!  (fuck yeah, passed physics wooooohoooooo!)

here's verse!

Verse | Bitter Clarity Uncommon Grace

looks awesome in clear!

and ceremony!

Ceremony | Rohnert Park

THE BEST CEREMONY ALBUM.
green is the perfect color for this!

it's so satisfying to have your favorite songs in physical form to hold.
it's like the songs became mine! my albums are also art works.

b9 does not disappoint!
they included these goodies along with all of my goodies:

love from b9

no, thank YOU!!

really, i would have been happy with a sticker!  so awesome of them to send this swag!
i'm working my way through the book, discovering a lot of great music here!  i read one "issue" every night while i have my coffee at work.  i have yet to listen to the cd, i'm saving it for the weekend. :)

this really made my week!
if you ever wondered about ordering from b9, i'd go for it.  you will not be disappointed!

thanks b9!

BRACE FOR IMPACT

aaaaaaaand... on the first official day of summer break... i got a minor concussion!

on saturday i went head first from 5ft off the ground into some hardwood floor... but, no stroke or seizures or nausea so i just carried on with the rest of my daily life.  the next 48hrs was aches everywhere but i sort of expected that from my exercise habits.  and i already had a stiff neck from leaning over the TINY DESKS IN KUYKENDAL HALL (you guys know what i'm talking about right!!!?  those desks are a disgrace!) for four hours, sitting my two back to back final exams.

monday and tuesday were really really bad headaches and the strangest thing happened, i could not stand listening to any music!  usually i have some kind of exciting music at work to keep the energy level up, especially during morning rounds.  but on monday i just could not stand listening to anything!  especially fast music sounded... noisey?  confusing?  it was the strangest feeling, not like irritation or anger, i just wanted to not hear it.  it reminded me of a whole bunch of people talking at once with an overlay of radio static and car alarms, and not on purpose.  on tuesday i was training some summer lab students our tissue culture techniques and i could not remember the procedure for turning on the autoclave.  i've done this tons of times before but i could not for the life of me remember where the alternate breaker switch was and i almost (ALMOST!) forgot to turn the water valve on first.  at this point i decided... this concussion is for real and i should not make any major decisions or do any risky athletics for the rest of the week.

this kind of sucks because summer just started!  and summer school is about to start so i wanted to squeeze in many bike rides and beach days before shit gets crazy again!  but it's for the best, considering my last major accidents occurred on zero sleep and my own bad judgement.  :|  also, still have a headache and due to the type of injury, could last for another 10 days.

hello, aceta, i love you.  you are the only way i can ride the bus for two hours, do a day of lab work, and act like a normal person!

under circumstances, this week is not a total loss.
on tuesday i had tacos with le boyfriend from whole foods ($1.99 ! with pico de gallo!) and i FINALLY watched Interstellar!  yes, i finally saw this movie (i somehow managed to avoid spoilers this whole time!) and it was great.  i feel like reading SPHERE (www.goodreads.com/book/show/455373.Sphere) and 11-22-63 (www.goodreads.com/book/show/10644930-11-22-63) and watching primer (http://erbpfilm.com/film/primer) helped in understanding time + dimensions.  my favorite part was the sound engineering... the use of silence is just as effective as the use of loud, booming explosions in some cases.

here is some brambles for today's music selection.  easy music for brain recovery.

MAYDAY

spring semester is done!  grades come out next weds, it'll be a nail biter until then.
yes, it's that close, and my caveat of quitting school forever in the case of not passing still stands.  at this point, i'm pretty exhausted and will be fine either way.

tomorrow is STAR WARS GLOW FLOW at the Modern.  i'll be working (boo hoo) but it sounds like a fun yoga event.  special outer space playlists (live DJ!!), star wars yoga poses, glow paint, costumes... if you are looking for something to do on saturday night, check it out: http://poweryogahawaii.com/poweryogahawaii.com/Power_Yoga_Hawaii.html

i'll be at the piikoi studio in the morning (9:30) if you prefer regular yoga (schedule: http://poweryogahawaii.com/poweryogahawaii.com/Class_Schedule_Piikoi.html ) and i'll probably doing some of this later

tiny flip

summer time means more free time... i'm probably going to train a samadhi too.  i just saw there are openings for Volary!! http://samadhihawaii.com/workshops.htm

everything kind of went down hill after last august but now my arm strength is good enough to play with the other aerial apparatus.  i'm excited to try some new classes there!

i also want to read a lot this summer.  i'll post a list of things i'm hoping to catch up on, next time.  i am DOOOOOONE with all that ancient roman stuff!  i still can't believe i read the works of cicero or suetonius.  i thought only old guys in robes were interested in that stuff but some of it was surprisingly applicable to modern life.

other than that, everything has been SSDD.
went to some workshops at our reference lab out at west, so i got to see a lot of med tech friends that i haven't seen in a while!  it's funny how every lab seems to have your counterpart.  like, that guy is me if i worked at pali momi!  or that person looks exactly like so and so if they worked at kapiolani!  i feel isolated at work sometimes.  it's nice to see what our sibling labs are up to.

i wish i something more exciting to write about.  i just wanted to have at least one post before may has passed me by!
maybe next week i'll have something to write home about.

i am so addicted to this song right now!
the snark factor is off the charts and the beat is great!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...
second best ain't going to cut it for the divas! give me that crown, bitch. i want to be sheezus.
